Guest Speaker for Chief Apostle Olive Brown's Birthday Celebration

Evangelist Naomi K. Thomas is a native of Virginia Beach, Virginia, where her parents, Deacon Leon and Mother Delores Fitzgerald, raised her in the nurture and admonition of the Lord along with her two brothers. Her parents built a strong Christian foundation in their home. As a result, it has prepared her for ministry in her home and local church ministry, the New Community Temple COGIC under the pastorate of Bishop Ted Thomas, Sr. in the beautiful city of Portsmouth, Va.

Evangelist Thomas is an anointed servant of the Lord who sincerely loves ministry. She serves in various capacities on the state and local levels of the Church Of God In Christ in the state of Virginia. In her local church she serves in the following capacities: Missionary Board; Elders, Ministers & Deacon’s wives circle; Vice-President of music dept.; and YWCC.

Evangelist Thomas serves as the President of the State Music Department of the First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Virginia. Evangelist Thomas also brings her gift of music ministry to the body of Christ. The Lord has appointed Naomi to be an instrument through song where the presence of God continues to flow. Her debut solo project entitled “Best Offering” has proven to uplift, energize, and minister to every listener.

Evangelist Thomas has been married 20 years to her loving husband, Elder Marc A. Thomas, Sr., Executive Pastor of the New Community Temple COGIC. To their union, God has blessed them with four handsome sons, Marc Jr. (MJ), Evan, Aaron, and Marson. God has richly blessed her life. Ministry is not a task but a privilege. “To God Be All The Glory”!!!

"Build the City”
Meditation Scriptures
New Jerusalem International Christian Ministries (NJICM) Fast & Prayer

******

In preparation for NJICM’s move to Cogbill Road (“The River”), let every member:

  •  Select either Tuesday or Thursday in the upcoming weeks until we break ground on the land, and fast 12 hours (example – 12:00 midnight to 12:00 noon the following day; choose any 12 hours and be sure to concentrate on prayer and meditation on the Word during the time period).
  • Meditate on the scriptures below which will fuel our faith to “Build the City” – the NJICM congregation to build the Cogbill Road facility, as well as build various areas of our personal lives (i.e., families, professions, businesses).

******

Meditation Scriptures

Genesis 4:2, 16-17    “…Cain was a tiller of the ground…And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden…and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.”

Genesis 10:10-12    “And the beginning of his kingdom (Nimrod) was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. Out of that land went forth Asshur, and builded Nineveh, and the city Rehoboth, and Calah, and Resen between Nineveh and Calah: the same is a great city.”

Genesis 11:1, 3-4    “And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech…And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly…And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven…”

Genesis 11:5-6    “And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded. And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.”
1 Kings 5:4-5    “But now the LORD my God hath given me (Solomon) rest on every side, so that there is neither adversary nor evil occurrent. And, behold, I purpose to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God…”

1 Kings 5:17-18    “And the king (Solomon) commanded, and they brought great stones, costly stones, and hewed stones, to lay the foundation of the house. And Solomon’s builders and Hiram’s builders did hew them, and the stonesquarers: so they prepared timber and stones to build the house.”

2 Chronicles 14:6-7    “And he (King Asa) built fenced cities in Judah: for the land had rest, and he had no war in those years; because the LORD had given him rest. Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us; because we have sought the LORD our God, we have sought him, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered.”

Nehemiah 2:5    “And I (Nehemiah) said unto the king, If it please the king, and if thy servant have found favour in thy sight, that thou wouldest send me unto Judah, unto the city of my father’s sepulchres, that I may build it.”

Nehemiah 2:17-18    “Then said I (Nehemiah) unto them, Ye see the distress that we are in…come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no more a reproach. Then I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me; as also the king’s words that he had spoken unto me. And they said, Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for this good work.”

Nehemiah 2:20    “Then answered I (Nehemiah) them (Sanballat the Horonite, Tobiah the servant), and said unto them, The God of heaven, he will prosper us; therefore we his servants will arise and build…”

Nehemiah 4:6    “So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work.”

Nehemiah 6:3    “And I (Nehemiah) sent messengers unto them (Sanballat, Geshem), saying, I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?”

Haggai 1:7-8    “Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways. Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD.”

Haggai 1:12-13    “Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the LORD their God had sent him, and the people did fear before the LORD. Then spake Haggai the LORD’S messenger in the LORD’S message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith the LORD.”

Haggai 1:14    “And the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work in the house of the LORD of hosts, their God…”

Haggai 2:4-5    “Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the LORD; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the LORD, and work: for I am with you, saith the LORD of hosts: According to the word that I covenanted with you when ye came out of Egypt, so my spirit remaineth among you: fear ye not.”

Haggai 2:8-9    “The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts. The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the LORD of hosts.”

o This is a corporate fast, not an individual fast
Goals
o Renewing our relationship with God

o Living a healthy life. “Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, just as it is well with your soul. “3 John 1:2 NRSV
o Greater discipline
o Power, to defeat the enemy! “And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing but by prayer and fasting Mark 9:29 KJV
Daniel Fast Guidelines:
1. ONLY fruits and vegetables
2. Beverages: Only water or 100% juices NO Sugar Added
3. Only Natural Sweeteners
4. 100% Whole Grain Breads

YOUTH: Parents and Youth Leaders are encouraged to include ALL Youth in this time of fasting. If only for certain days during the week, encourage no sweets, sodas -(only water or 100% juices), no video games, limited TV time, and no movies.
Let them know that this is NOT a punishment, this is the way We, as the Body of Christ, get closer to HIM and gain strength to do ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST - Phil. 4:13.
Let them know that this is NOT an option, this is a requirement. They don’t have to do all 21 days, but they MUST DO SOMETHING, WE ALL MUST!
